Freor Launches Mercury Plug-In Display Cabinet with R290 Option

Freor’s Mercury cabinet offers flexible merchandising and storage with energy-efficient features and compact design.

Freor has introduced the Mercury, a modern plug-in multideck cabinet designed for both product display and additional behind-the-counter storage. The upright unit features a straight-line design and higher bottom shelf to optimize space use, making it suitable for various retail formats. It is available in versions using natural refrigerant R290 or HFC/HFO blends and is rated from energy class [B].

Product Overview

The Mercury cabinet is equipped with dynamic cooling and operates as a standalone unit, eliminating the need for remote refrigeration systems. It offers several length options and a wide selection of RAL colors for customization. Its zinc-plated 1.4 mm metal construction supports heavy loads, and polyurethane insulation is CFC-free. A multiplexable configuration is also supported for larger installations.

The cabinet includes electronically commutated (EC) fans and canopy LED lighting as standard. Optional features include LED shelf lighting, hinged or frameless glass doors (which can reduce energy use by up to 15%), and manual night blinds. Defrost heaters and various endwall and panel alternatives are also available.

Energy Efficiency and Presentation

Designed with energy-saving in mind, the R290 version of Mercury can reduce energy consumption by up to 30% compared to traditional systems. Cold air is evenly distributed across shelves for product preservation, while open and glass-door versions enhance visibility and shopper access. Two-level bumpers protect against trolley damage, and optional branding banners increase merchandising impact.

Use Cases

Mercury’s compact footprint makes it ideal for use behind service counters to increase chilled storage capacity. The cabinet supports a wide temperature range for dairy, meat, fruit, and vegetables, enhancing store layout flexibility without compromising product quality.

“Mercury combines durable construction with flexible configurations and energy-saving technologies, making it an efficient solution for diverse retail environments,” said a Freor representative.
