Tecumseh Europe launches SILENSYS Advanced for A2L refrigerants

SILENSYS first generation was launched over 20 years ago and has become the benchmark for low noise condensing units. Tecumseh Europe launches SILENSYS Advanced, the first manufacturer to provide capability for A2L refrigerants.

Global warming is forcing us to reduce the amount of virgin refrigerants we manufacture and use. F-Gas Regulation aims to curb our use of high GWP refrigerants. Manufacturers must rise to the challenges of this Regulation requiring evolution of products to meet not only low GWP targets but also exacting Eco-design constraints.

There is no compromise on safety either for Tecumseh as we launch SILENSYS Advanced optimised for ‘mildly flammable’ A2L refrigerants R455A, R454C and R1234yf.

"After more than two years of development and testing, we are proud to launch SILENSYS Advanced. R455A and R454C are a response to the use of R404A while R134a will be replaced by R1234yf. Trust Tecumseh to provide safe, reliable and efficient products." says Quentin d'Aboville, Marketing Director of Tecumseh Europe.

SILENSYS condensing unit range from Tecumseh is well known for achieving low noise and the launch of SILENSYS Advanced builds on this expertise. SILENSYS Advanced is designed with two compartments to achieve compliance to exacting standards to include EN378 and ISO5149 due to the ‘mildly flammable’ nature of A2L refrigerants. These two compartments achieve the necessary separation of electrical from refrigeration components whilst the compressor compartment features active ventilation along with crankcase heater, pressure switch and fan speed control chosen for suitable operation in this environment.

Manufactured to strict guidelines by Tecumseh at its factory in Lyon, France the units are inspected and tested on dedicated production lines to ensure the highest safety standards with the range being extended to 15kW. Simplicity of installation and maintenance remains key to continued contractor application of SILENSYS Advanced.

The SILENSYS Advanced condensing unit, approved for use with sub-150 refrigerants, exceeds the current requirements of the F Gas Directive offering a long term solution for condensing unit applications. SILENSYS efficiency, which is higher than the thresholds of the Ecodesign Directive, also provides the best life cycle cost benefits for direct expansion refrigeration application.

Tecumseh, celebrating over 85 years as a trusted Global supplier, remains at the forefront to support Contractors and End Users in the successful transition to A2L refrigerants.
