51st International HVAC&R Congress and Exhibition in Belgrade, Serbia, 2-4 December 2020 (virtual event)
Technology roundtable on energy-efficient, ozone layer-friendly and climate-friendly technologies of Serbia’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and UNEP OzonAction.

This year, the annual congress and exhibition of the Serbian refrigeration association SMEITS / KGH goes virtual.
It is the only international HVAC&R congress and exhibition which has been organized in an Article 5 country for over 50 years. And it is the first virtual congress and exhibition of its kind being organized in an Article 5 country in the Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region. This is not surprising, as Serbia was among the countries which founded the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) in 1908 – more than a century ago. Thus, Serbia has a strong and long-standing tradition of promoting this important and growing sector. In 2019, SMEITS / KGH awarded UNEP for the longstanding support and cooperation provided. The congress opening addresses go online on Tuesday, 1 December 2020 at 18:00 Belgrade / CET time (see link in the SMEITS / KGH message below).

Technology roundtables on energy-efficient, ozone layer-friendly and climate-friendly technologies “Forum”
For more than a decade, Serbia’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and UNEP OzonAction cooperate with SMEITS / KGH in organizing annual technology roundtables on energy-efficient, ozone layer-friendly and climate-friendly technologies as part of the International HVAC&R Congress. The link to the technology roundtable will be available from the congress website and the booth of Serbia’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and UNEP OzonAction. Click here to see the programme.

This year, the roundtable will focus on the Kigali Amendment ratification globally and Montreal Protocol activities in Serbia, the link between F-gases and eco-design, standardization and eco-design for refrigerating systems and heat pumps, future of refrigerants in the HVA industry, refrigerant selection for high-temperature heat pumps and food retail refrigeration, characteristics of R-718 (water) thermal systems, optimization of cascade heat pumps, building heating with groundwater source heat pumps, factory acceptance testing for chiller among others.

Exhibition booth of Serbia’ s Ministry of Environmental Protection and UNEP OzonAction on Montreal Protocol related materials
This year, the exhibition booth will be virtual. Montreal Protocol related publications, materials and videos of the Ministry, UNEP OzonAction and their partner organizations are included in the “Virtual Bag” which is available at the “Info Desk”. Live chat with staff of the Ministry and UNEP OzonAction will be available each day of the congress. Both activities, the technology roundtable and the exhibition booth, are part of Serbia’s HFCFC phase-out management plan and aim to raise awareness on alternative technologies. They are part of the services provided by OzonActions’s Regional Montreal Protocol Network for Europe and Central Asia (ECA network) and financed by the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol.

SMEITS / KGH International HVAC&R congress and exhibition
