CubeCold Europe Acquires FrigoCaserta and J R Harding & Sons

CubeCold Europe Acquires FrigoCaserta and J R Harding & Sons

CubeCold Europe is pleased to announce the acquisition of FrigoCaserta, a prominent temperature-controlled warehousing company headquartered in Gricignano d’Aversa, Southern Italy.

This strategic acquisition not only consolidates CubeCold’s position in Europe but also highlights its commitment to the Italian market.

Established in 1974, FrigoCaserta is a leading cold storage business in Southern Italy, serving a diverse clientele with a focus on grocery retailers and food producers in sectors like dairy, fish, and bakery goods.

The company operates a total capacity of approximately 78,000 pallets in different temperature regimes. Of these, a significant 25,000 pallets are part of a newly built state-of-the-art semi-automated temperature-controlled development.

This is the first development of its kind in the region and it began operation in July 2023. The new automated facility adds significant highly efficient storage capacity, ensuring FrigoCaserta’s readiness to meet rising market demands.

FrigoCaserta operates within a strategic logistics zone, close to both the port of Napoli (approximately 30km) and Napoli airport (around 20km), giving it a competitive edge in the market.

“We are excited to welcome FrigoCaserta into our portfolio. Their expertise in temperature-controlled warehousing, combined with their strategic location, aligns perfectly with our growth objectives in the region,” says Gerben Paauwe, CEO CubeCold Europe.

This strategic acquisition solidifies CubeCold’s footprint in Italy following its previous successful acquisition of Fridocks in May 2023.

The unified capabilities promise to offer enhanced services to a wider clientele, fostering growth and excellence in the European cold storage sector.

CubeCold Expands UK capacity with the acquisition of J R Harding & Sons

CubeCold Europe has expanded its UK presence with the strategic acquisition of J R Harding & Sons, a leading multi-niche temperature-controlled warehouse & distribution company based in Frome, UK.

CubeCold Europe’s CEO, Gerben Paauwe, states, “This acquisition is an excellent strategic fit that strengthens our position in the UK.

J R Harding & Sons’s reputation and customer relationships complement our own and together we can provide even greater value to customers through an integrated network.”.

Founded in 1964, J R Harding & Sons operate a 17.000 pallet temperature-controlled warehouse with a focus on high-value, high-margin goods.

In addition to the warehouse, the company has a fleet of 11 transport units and runs an Iveco truck maintenance business on a 4.3-acre property.

This location also provides CubeCold with the opportunity to develop a new coldstore facility in the near future.

J R Harding & Sons warehouses are renowned for its exceptional customer service. This acquisition will enable CubeCold to provide more value-added services and further expand its offering to customers in the UK.

Situated near the ports of Southampton/Bristol and Bridgewater, J R Harding & Sons’ prime location enhances CubeCold’s logistics network and integrates seamlessly into Cube Cold’s current UK operations.

We eagerly embrace J R Harding & Sons as a valuable addition to our portfolio. J R Harding & Sons’ long relationships with large customers provide potential cross-selling opportunities across Cube Cold’s existing network of warehouses as well as transport flows.

Case Study – Effect of Louvers or diffusers on air flow distribution and cooling time on a meat log during Chill cycle

By Kushal Aurangabadkar An experimental analysis was conducted on a cooler space measuring 3.66 m × 6.096 m (12.0 ft × 20.0 ft), equipped with an ammonia refrigeration coil, five 30 cm (12 in.) fans, and five diffusers. The study measured airflow patterns, cooling rates, and heat transfer efficiency in meat storage by testing two configurations:

Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for Modular Refrigeration Systems in Life Sciences Distribution Centers

by Ramez Naguib, P.E. Introduction Life sciences distribution centers are under immense pressure to deliver consistent temperature control, comply with increasingly stringent regulations, and optimize operational efficiency. Traditional built-up refrigeration systems often prove cumbersome, costly, and slow to implement. In contrast, modular, factory-assembled refrigeration systems have emerged as a compelling alternative. Drawing on lessons from
