Emergent Cold Completes Expansion of Its Facility in Apodaca, Mexico

Emergent Cold Completes Expansion of Its Facility in Apodaca, Mexico

Emergent Cold Latin America (Emergent Cold LatAm), the largest provider of temperature-controlled logistics and storage services for food in Latin America, has announced the completion of its facility expansion in Apodaca, Mexico.

The expansion added 3,900 positions, increasing the facility’s capacity to 17,500 pallets in 145,000 m³. This is the second project completed in Mexico this month. Recently, the company announced the completion of the expansion of its unit in Villagrán (Guanajuato).

Juan Pablo Benitez, Managing Director of Emergent Cold LatAm for Mexico, explained: “the completion of these two expansions is just the beginning of our ambitious expansion plans in Mexico. We are building a new warehouse in Monterrey and looking for the best opportunities for growing our network in the country.”

“The growth in Mexico is an important part of our company’s expansion. The domestic market’s potential, proximity to the United States, growing agricultural production, and opportunities for connection with other Latin American countries make Mexico integral to our strategy”, added Juan Pablo.

Emergent Cold LatAm began its operations in Mexico in September 2022 through the acquisition of Bajo Cero and acquired Qualianz in January of the following year. Currently, the company operates over 30 strategically located warehouses across Mexico, from Mexico City to Tijuana, boasting a capacity exceeding 1 million cubic meters and nearly 200,000 pallet positions for refrigerated and frozen foods.

Case Study – Effect of Louvers or diffusers on air flow distribution and cooling time on a meat log during Chill cycle

By Kushal Aurangabadkar An experimental analysis was conducted on a cooler space measuring 3.66 m × 6.096 m (12.0 ft × 20.0 ft), equipped with an ammonia refrigeration coil, five 30 cm (12 in.) fans, and five diffusers. The study measured airflow patterns, cooling rates, and heat transfer efficiency in meat storage by testing two configurations:

Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for Modular Refrigeration Systems in Life Sciences Distribution Centers

by Ramez Naguib, P.E. Introduction Life sciences distribution centers are under immense pressure to deliver consistent temperature control, comply with increasingly stringent regulations, and optimize operational efficiency. Traditional built-up refrigeration systems often prove cumbersome, costly, and slow to implement. In contrast, modular, factory-assembled refrigeration systems have emerged as a compelling alternative. Drawing on lessons from
