BGO Cold Chain Acquires Major Cold Storage Facility in Miami

BGO Cold Chain Acquires Major Cold Storage Facility in Miami

BGO Cold Chain, part of the global real estate investment manager BGO, has expanded its cold storage portfolio with the acquisition of Medley Cold Logistics, a significant 178,000 square foot warehouse located in Miami, Florida. This property was secured under BGO’s Core Plus strategy and is fully leased to Quirch Foods, a renowned international food distribution company.

This acquisition follows BGO’s joint purchase of SkyChefs Cold Storage in Miami alongside Iconic Equities in 2023, further solidifying BGO’s presence in Florida’s cold storage industry. In addition to Medley Cold Logistics, the company’s Florida portfolio includes three development projects: Tampa Cold Logistics and two custom-built projects in the Jacksonville area.

The Medley Cold Logistics facility features 32-foot clear heights, 29 loading docks, 236 parking spaces, and 116,000 square feet dedicated to freezer space. It is strategically positioned with easy access to major routes like Florida’s Turnpike, US-27, and State Road 826, and is in close proximity to Miami International Airport and the Port of Miami. The site offers potential for strategic expansion, a task BGO’s in-house development team is prepared to undertake to support tenant growth.

Case Study – Effect of Louvers or diffusers on air flow distribution and cooling time on a meat log during Chill cycle

By Kushal Aurangabadkar An experimental analysis was conducted on a cooler space measuring 3.66 m × 6.096 m (12.0 ft × 20.0 ft), equipped with an ammonia refrigeration coil, five 30 cm (12 in.) fans, and five diffusers. The study measured airflow patterns, cooling rates, and heat transfer efficiency in meat storage by testing two configurations:

Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for Modular Refrigeration Systems in Life Sciences Distribution Centers

by Ramez Naguib, P.E. Introduction Life sciences distribution centers are under immense pressure to deliver consistent temperature control, comply with increasingly stringent regulations, and optimize operational efficiency. Traditional built-up refrigeration systems often prove cumbersome, costly, and slow to implement. In contrast, modular, factory-assembled refrigeration systems have emerged as a compelling alternative. Drawing on lessons from
