Atlas Copco has expanded its oil-injected rotary screw compressor portfolio with three new Variable Speed Drive (VSD) ranges covering motor ratings from 5 to 45 kW (approximately 6.7 to 60.3 hp). The G 22-45 VSD, GA 22-37 VSD+ and GA 5-18 VSD+ offer manufacturers different levels of energy efficiency, connectivity and lifecycle performance.
The G 22-45 VSD range covers 22 to 45 kW (approximately 29.5 to 60.3 hp) and delivers average energy savings of up to 35% compared with fixed-speed compressors. It features an IE5-equivalent permanent magnet motor, oil-cooled service-free drivetrain and compact vertical design. Standard equipment includes an IP65-rated SmartBox Pro, SMARTLINK remote monitoring and an Elektronikon Touch controller, while Full Feature versions incorporate an integrated refrigerant dryer.
The GA 5-18 VSD+ and GA 22-37 VSD+ ranges offer energy savings of up to 60% compared with fixed-speed compressors and approximately 20% higher Free Air Delivery on average. Both use Atlas Copco’s NEOS NEXT inverter technology and enhanced controller software for compressor optimisation. Improved acoustic damping reduces sound levels to as low as 62 dB(A), while SMARTLINK and SmartBox Pro provide connectivity through cellular networks, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and industrial communication interfaces.
Full Feature GA VSD+ models use R513A refrigerant in their integrated dryers, reducing refrigerant Global Warming Potential (GWP) by approximately 70% compared with R410A. Additional features include Smart Temperature Control for oil temperature management and CPC+ technology for moisture removal under extreme low-flow conditions. An optional energy recovery system can recover up to 80% of the compressor’s electrical energy input as usable hot water.
