Daikin Industries, Ltd. has invested in Advanced Composite Corporation by underwriting a capital increase through a third-party share allocation. This strategic partnership aims to enhance HVAC&R equipment with lightweight and high-strength materials.
Advanced Composite, known for its aluminum-based metal matrix composites and metal joining technology, collaborates with Daikin to improve compressor performance – a crucial component in HVAC&R systems. These composites provide cast iron-like strength while retaining aluminum’s lightweight qualities. Their molten metal forging technology ensures low-cost aluminum composite production, which Daikin plans to use for compressor parts, reducing weight and power consumption, leading to energy savings.
On July 1, 2024, Daikin established its Production Engineering Center to advance factory innovations and improve production process efficiency. This investment will bolster collaboration with Advanced Composite, focusing on joint development of unique materials, like aluminum composites, for HVAC&R products.
