ebm-papst officially opened its new Air Technology Hub in Shah Alam, Malaysia, on October 22. The facility combines local assembly, warehousing, application support, digital services and customer training to improve product availability, delivery times and technical support for customers across Southeast Asia.
The hub covers approximately 3,000 m² (32,292 sq ft), including a 2,000 m² (21,528 sq ft) warehouse, a 500 m² (5,382 sq ft) assembly and laboratory area, and a 500 m² (5,382 sq ft) office area. It supports local assembly of high-demand products for various applications, quality analysis and digital services. The warehouse will stock selected products locally to shorten delivery times.
The facility also provides Return Material Authorization (RMA) analysis, repair and refurbishment of selected products, fan health monitoring and retrofit proof-of-concept initiatives. A Customer Experience Center allows customers and partners to explore intelligent controls, digital connectivity and retrofit solutions. Technical training is available for customers, partners and employees.
According to ebm-papst, the hub’s digital capabilities will support the use of operating data, predictive maintenance and fan health monitoring to improve equipment reliability and energy efficiency. Malaysia was selected for its established industrial base, skilled workforce and strategic location. The facility joins the company’s regional Air Technology Hub network alongside its existing hub in Guangdong, China.
“The Malaysia Air Technology Hub brings our technology and expertise closer to customers in Southeast Asia. It is an important part of our Local for Local strategy and reflects our long-term commitment to the region,” said Thomas Nuernberger, Chief Sales Officer of the ebm-papst Group and President & CEO Air Technology Asia-Pacific, Middle East & Africa.
