LG Expands ThinQ UP Software Upgrades to 37 European Countries

LG Electronics has expanded its ThinQ UP service for residential air conditioners from six European countries to 37, extending post-purchase software upgrades to a wider base of installed units.

The service covers 16 LG residential air conditioner models, including the ARTCOOL Gallery Premium, ARTCOOL AI Mirror and DUALCOOL AI series. Users download and install new features through the LG ThinQ app rather than replacing hardware.

Two of the planned updates affect operation. Energy Saving Mode lets users activate or switch off the energy saving function simultaneously across compatible LG appliances, including air conditioners, televisions, refrigerators and washing machines. Fireplace Mode stops the air conditioner heating once the indoor temperature reaches the set point while the fan continues running, distributing warm air from a fireplace or other heat source through the room. Both are planned for ARTCOOL and DUALCOOL AI models.

The DUALCOOL AI Deluxe received the Miglior Acquisto label from Italian consumer organisation Altroconsumo in April following an independent comparative test. In Portugal, the 9,000 BTU model was named Melhor do Teste by DECO Proteste.

LG has not published efficiency figures for the Energy Saving Mode function or a release schedule for the remaining updates.
