A-Gas Acquires Refrigerant Services Inc. to Strengthen Operations in Canada

A-Gas has expanded its presence in North America with the acquisition of Refrigerant Services Inc. (RSI), a recognized name in the Canadian refrigerant sector. The transaction was completed in late March 2025.

The move supports A-Gas' strategy to enhance its refrigerant lifecycle management capabilities across Canada. It also aims to provide Canadian customers with broader access to recovery, reclamation, and supply services.

Mike Armstrong, Managing Director and President of A-Gas in the Americas, stated, “We are excited to continue serving the Canadian market, combining our expertise to provide circular solutions in the refrigerant industry with RSI’s over thirty years of exceptional customer service and dedication to the Canadian market.”

Refrigerant Services Inc. President Jim Thomas commented, “Together, we will continue to innovate and provide environmentally responsible refrigerant management solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.”

Following the acquisition, both companies will retain their leadership teams and branding. This approach is intended to maintain continuity for existing clients and build on the strengths of each organization.

Legal advisory services for the transaction were provided by Stikeman Elliott LLP, with financial advice from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and environmental support from Stantec Consulting Ltd.

With backing from co-investors TPG Rise Climate and KKR, A-Gas continues to invest in its global refrigerant management operations.
