The Philippine Environmental Management Bureau’s Ozone Desk (EMB-POD) and GIZ visited Bosch’s air conditioning manufacturing facility in April to strengthen cooperation and support accurate environmental reporting. The visit focused on validating data submitted by Bosch, formerly Johnson Control Hitachi, and reviewing the company’s alignment with national reporting requirements.
The engagement included a technical discussion on data submitted by Bosch for the Country Program Report, scheduled for submission on May 1, 2026. EMB-POD requested a revised and consolidated dataset in a prescribed format, including the number of units produced by type, the refrigerants used, and the corresponding charge amounts.
Bosch proposed internal monthly monitoring using the revised reporting format to improve efficiency. EMB-POD supported the initiative but said annual site visits would continue to ensure data accuracy and maintain collaboration with industry stakeholders.
Bosch also shared information on outsourcing through Delsa, Inc. and regular staff training, while noting concerns over declining sales linked to imported units. GIZ representative Ms. Maraida Licerio presented the Accelerating Air Conditioning Transformation through Enhanced Energy Performance Standards (ACT-MEPS) initiative, which provides technical assistance, testing support, capacity-building, and policy alignment.
The visit concluded with a facility tour that included Bosch’s air enthalpy psychrometric calorimeter, used to support compliance with minimum energy performance standards (MEPS).
