Haier Breaks Ground on Major Air Conditioner Plant in Thailand

Haier has launched an investment plan worth over 10 billion THB to establish its first air conditioner manufacturing plant in Thailand. This facility will meet the growing demand for air conditioners in the region. Situated on more than 324,000 square meters in the WHA Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate 3 (WHA ESIE 3) in Chonburi province, the plant will utilize advanced manufacturing technologies to produce air conditioner components according to world-class standards. Haier aims to position Thailand as a comprehensive production hub and center for the electrical appliance industry, manufacturing and distributing both domestically and globally. The plant targets an annual production of over 6 million air conditioners and is expected to create more than 3,000 jobs.

Mr. Zhou Yunjie, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Haier Group, stated, “This is a significant step in our strategic vision to expand our business presence globally. This move underscores our strong capabilities as a leader in the global home appliance production and distribution industry. Thailand has been selected for the new large-scale air conditioner manufacturing plant due to its strategic location, which connects to neighboring countries in the region, and the rapid growth of Thailand's air conditioner market, valued at tens of billions of THB. Haier continues to lead the market with a 13% market share, ranking first in offline sales by number.”

The plant aspires to be a fully integrated production base, equipped with state-of-the-art automated machinery and advanced manufacturing technologies, in line with global standards, to enhance market competitiveness and support a maximum production capacity of up to 6 million air conditioners annually.

Mr. Zhou Yunjie added, “The plant's construction plan is divided into three phases and is expected to be completed by 2027. The first phase will commence production of 3 million units in September 2025. The second and third phases will be completed and operational by 2026 and 2027, respectively. Upon completion, this plant will become the largest air conditioner manufacturing base in Southeast Asia and Haier’s largest overseas production base in the air conditioning industry. Haier is also dedicated to promoting the distribution of technological knowledge in research, manufacturing, and sales to develop a strong, capable workforce through collaboration between the industry and local communities. Once fully operational in the next two years, the plant is expected to stimulate the labor market, enhance economic value, and distribute income to the communities, creating more than 3,000 jobs in Chonburi province, thereby supporting the promotion of Thailand’s economy.”

“Haier's investment in Thailand illustrates the positive cooperation between China and Thailand in driving sustainable international economic growth. It also extends Haier’s vision to become a global-standard home appliance brand, delivering excellent user experiences recognized by consumers worldwide, and fostering limitless creativity under the concept 'More Creation, More Possibilities,'” Zhou concluded.
