Carrier Commercial Refrigeration, a leading supplier of high-efficiency refrigeration systems and services in the food retail and cold storage industries, unveils its latest breakthrough: the CO2OLtec CO2 efficiency booster skid. Introducing a significant advancement in energy-efficient refrigeration, the CO2 efficiency booster skid provides a versatile add-on module for Carrier Commercial Refrigeration racks – as well as other brands of existing racks – and is designed to enhance efficiency, reduce energy consumption and contribute to a greener future.
The CO2 efficiency booster skid has been engineered to deliver an up to 10% reduction in energy consumption compared to conventional CO₂ booster systems, whether equipped with or without an eco-compressor, presenting a compelling case for environmentally and economically conscious businesses. It relies on its ability to optimize semi-flooded mode, allowing cabinets and cold room evaporators to operate with increased efficiency while reducing defrost need. With a payback time ranging from one to three years, the CO2 efficiency booster skid is not just an investment in sustainability; it's a sound financial decision.
Tailored to cover the capacities of all food retail projects, the CO2 efficiency booster skid comes in a range of sizes, ensuring an ideal fit for every application. Importantly, the space-saving design takes up less than 1 square meter, providing an efficient solution without compromising performance. Whether the facility will be equipped with new MiniCO2OL or MaxiCO2OL racks or has existing racks from other brands, the CO2 efficiency booster skid seamlessly integrates. This makes it a versatile solution for both new projects and retrofitting infrastructures as an add-on module with existing racks, simplifying the retrofitting process and minimizing downtime during installation.
With a high-standstill pressure design of 60 bars, the CO2 efficiency booster skid is also available with a lower rated pressure relief valve to adapt to the site. Its innovative design incorporates a liquid ejector on medium temperature modules and a liquid/gas heat exchanger for low temperature modules.
“We are constantly looking to develop our product range to provide energy optimization solutions for our customers, while contributing to a greener future,” said Johan Samuelsson, Managing Director, Mechanical Systems, Carrier Commercial Refrigeration. “The launch of our CO2 efficiency booster skid is yet another advancement, significantly boosting energy efficiency and reducing electrical consumption.”
