Danfoss has expanded its Extended Oil-Free (EXO) program into a complete oil-free ecosystem combining compressors, system components, sensors, and digital services. The program is designed to help OEMs build optimized oil-free systems for applications including data centers, heat recovery, and comfort cooling and heating.
The EXO program is built around Danfoss Turbocor oil-free magnetic bearing compressors. As part of the expansion, Danfoss has introduced Active Cooling for selected Turbocor compressors to extend operating limits and system performance.
According to Danfoss, Active Cooling can deliver up to 45% more capacity in high-temperature conditions, expand operating envelopes with higher suction and discharge temperatures, avoid power derating in extreme ambient environments, and reduce the number of compressors per system. The technology manages the thermal conditions of the compressor’s power electronics to support stable operation across a wider range of conditions.
The EXO portfolio also includes the OFC oil-free check valve, OFB oil-free shut-off ball valve, PTS staging valve, and DST G4ze gas sensor. Danfoss said these technologies can operate as a complete oil-free system or be used as standalone components, depending on system design and OEM requirements.
“We pioneered oil-free compressor technology, and today we continue to define it in the most demanding applications. With the EXO program and our new Active Cooling capability, we are expanding what customers can achieve—delivering higher capacity, greater flexibility, and reliable performance under extreme conditions. This is essential for the next generation of cooling systems,” said Rogerio Federici, Vice President, Danfoss Turbocor.
