Hussmann Expands CO2 Refrigeration Portfolio with New Condensing Unit

Hussmann, a Panasonic company, has announced the release of its new outdoor CO2 condensing unit (OCU) as part of its Evolve Technologies. Designed for both medium and low temperature applications, this unit enhances Hussmann’s offerings in retail refrigeration by providing versatile and efficient solutions.

The 4 horsepower OCU features flexible design elements, including variable speed compressors and advanced control boards, allowing it to exceed Department of Energy energy standards. This ensures optimal energy conservation, operating effectively between –40° and +23°F, and functioning in ambient temperatures up to 113°F.

Targeted at small to medium-sized retail spaces, the Hussmann OCU is perfect for warehouse unit cooler applications and small walk-in coolers. Its compact design allows for diverse installation options, making it adaptable to various setups. With established Panasonic technology, it brings reliable performance to the North American market under the Hussmann brand.

A highlight of this condensing unit is its use of a natural refrigerant, R-744 (CO2), with a global warming potential (GWP) of 1, aligning with Hussmann's commitment to environmentally friendly solutions. An additional 10 horsepower model is slated for release in 2025, catering to larger applications such as warehouse unit coolers and extensive walk-in coolers.
