Cool Up convened a two-day workshop in Ain Sokhna on 23–24 April 2026 to support the finalisation of Egypt’s National Cooling Action Plan. The event was organised by Cool Up’s country partner in Egypt, the Integrated Development Group, in close collaboration with the National Ozone Unit of the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency.
The workshop brought together the Steering Committee for Sustainable Cooling in Egypt, with national stakeholders and technical experts from government, industry and international organisations. Participants included representatives from the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Ministry of Housing, Ministry of International Cooperation, Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Health.
Additional contributors included the General Organization for Physical Planning, New Urban Communities Authority, Housing and Building National Research Center, Federation of Egyptian Industries, ASHRAE, United Nations Industrial Development Organization and national experts.
Participants discussed mitigation pathways and modelling scenarios for sustainable cooling in Egypt. They reviewed and refined proposed measures, advanced discussions on implementation mechanisms and addressed a monitoring framework for the plan.
According to Cool Up, the attendees’ engagement helped contextualise the National Cooling Action Plan measures to national priorities and supported a collective vision for sustainable cooling and climate action.
