REHVA, the Federation of European Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Associations, and the European Solar Shading Organisation (ES-SO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation on energy-efficient, high-performance and climate-resilient buildings across Europe.
The agreement establishes a framework for closer coordination between HVAC systems and solar shading solutions. Both technologies contribute to indoor comfort and healthy environments while helping reduce building energy demand.
The cooperation comes amid increasingly frequent periods of extreme heat in Europe and growing concerns about summer comfort and building overheating. The organisations highlight the importance of coordinating building systems, passive measures and solar control strategies to address these challenges.
Under the MoU, REHVA and ES-SO plan to exchange technical knowledge and expertise, identify opportunities for joint activities and promote awareness of integrated approaches to building performance. The agreement will also facilitate connections between their professional communities and support the exchange of best practices at European level.
The partnership reflects both organisations’ commitment to improving building energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality and the decarbonisation of Europe’s building stock.
