Daikin Australia has launched VRV 7, the seventh generation of its commercial Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) air conditioning system and its first VRV platform using R32 refrigerant. Available nationwide from November 2, 2026, the range offers 66% lower global warming potential (GWP) than R410A and improved seasonal efficiency.
The range includes two outdoor unit types. VRV 7 S features a compact side-discharge design with capacities from 11.2 to 24 kW (approximately 38,200–81,900 BTU/h). VRV 7 R uses a modular top-discharge design with capacities from 16 to 67 kW (approximately 54,600–228,600 BTU/h), supporting combined configurations up to 167 kW (approximately 569,800 BTU/h). The R series supports Heat Pump and Heat Recovery operation.
VRV 7 incorporates Daikin’s Shirudo Technology to address R32 refrigerant safety requirements under AS/NZS 60335.2.40 and AS/NZS 5149. The integrated system combines refrigerant leak detection, a 65 dBA audio and visual alarm, safety shut-off valves and optional ventilation interlocks. Daikin’s DK-BIM selection software evaluates room dimensions, indoor unit installation height and refrigerant charge to identify required safety measures.
Compared with previous R410A models in the average zone classification, VRV 7 offers up to 35% higher cooling seasonal efficiency and 42% higher heating seasonal efficiency. Select models also feature reduced refrigerant piping sizes. VRV 7 S carries a five-year parts and labour warranty, while VRV 7 R has a three-year warranty.
“R32 introduces a new set of safety requirements around refrigerant leak mitigation, and managing those across design and installation can be simplified with Daikin’s Shirudo Technology,” said Sunny Wong, National Consulting Sales Manager, Daikin Australia.
