UNEP Cool Coalition to Co-Host Sustainable Cooling Pavilion at COP31

The Blue Zone venue will unite policymakers, financiers and technical experts around efficient cooling and climate-resilient urban development.

UNEP Cool Coalition to Co-Host Sustainable Cooling Pavilion at COP31

The UNEP Cool Coalition, Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC), UN-Habitat and İLBANK will co-host the Resilient Cities, Buildings and Cooling Pavilion at COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye, from 9 to 20 November 2026. The pavilion will focus on sustainable cooling, building efficiency, decarbonization and climate-resilient urban infrastructure.

Located in the COP31 Blue Zone, the pavilion will highlight the connections between urban planning, building design, cooling demand and climate resilience. Aligned with the COP31 Presidency’s Action Agenda priority on Climate-Resilient Cities, it will bring together governments, cities, industry representatives, financial institutions, technical practitioners and civil society to discuss practical approaches to reducing emissions and addressing rising temperatures.

The UNEP Cool Coalition will focus on expanding access to sustainable, energy-efficient cooling, while GlobalABC will address the transition toward zero-emission, efficient and resilient buildings and construction. UN-Habitat will contribute expertise in sustainable urbanisation, and İLBANK will focus on financing and implementing urban resilience investments, including developing bankable projects.

The programme will feature high-level dialogues connecting global and national climate priorities with local implementation challenges. Technical sessions will cover practical developments in housing, buildings, municipal infrastructure, passive and sustainable cooling, building decarbonization and market transformation. Daily themes will include finance and trade, food and agriculture, human and social development, and enhancing implementation.

Partner-led events will bring perspectives from different regions and sectors, providing opportunities to share evidence, compare approaches and examine how solutions can progress from pilot projects to wider implementation. The pavilion will also provide dedicated meeting and networking spaces for informal discussions, partnership development and exchanges between policymakers, financiers and technical specialists.
