The pfenning group is expanding its service portfolio with the strategic acquisition of pharmaceutical logistics group LOGO-SYS from Darmstadt. The transaction was completed with retroactive effect from 1 January 2024, with a 100 percent stake. The pfenning Group is thus taking a further step in its growth strategy and expanding its service and industry portfolio, as LOGOSYS is a renowned logistics group with many years of expertise in highly specialised logistics solutions in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, cosmetics, care products and chemicals industry segments.
The LOGOSYS Group consists of three companies with the units Logistics, Forwarding and Personnel Services, all of which specialise in supply chain services for the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. The company’s long-standing clients include well-known pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, for whom it carries out warehouse logistics, packaging, order picking, transport and distribution to retailers and end customers. With around 250 employees at 3 locations in the Rhine-Main region, over 60,000 m² with more than 100,000 pallet spaces and its own fleet of vehicles, LOGOSYS is an ideal addition to the pfenning world. The specialist also has a comprehensive quality management system with the necessary certifications and authorisations for pharmaceutical logistics, including GDP, GMP, wholesale authorisation and manufacturing authorisation in accordance with §13 AMG.
The transaction took place for reasons of succession, as Hans-Jürgen Nützel, founder and Managing Director of LOGOSYS, has retired from operational management for reasons of age, thus setting the course for the future of the company. The management of the LOGOSYS Group around Jürgen Reinhard and Marcel Nützel will remain with the company. Hans-Jürgen Nützel commented on the acquisition as follows: “The Europe-wide presence and the shared management philosophy between LOGOSYS and the pfenning Group were decisive criteria for this transaction. We are convinced that this integration creates a win-win situation for both companies and further strengthens our ability to offer innovative solutions.” The close proximity between Heddesheim and Darmstadt is also expected to result in rapid integration and the utilisation of mutual synergies, Nützel added.
Rana Matthias Nag, Managing Director of the pfenning Group, added: “The integration of LOGOSYS into our group of companies expands our range of services, particularly in the pharmaceutical, healthcare and cosmetics sectors. We are confident that this will enable us to fulfil the dynamically developing requirements of supply chains in an even more targeted manner. In addition to our industry expertise, the acquisition also expands our activities in the Rhine-Main region.”
On its growth path, the pfenning Group has already acquired seven other companies since 2021, strengthening its service portfolio in the areas of e-commerce & fulfilment, mobility solutions, fresh produce logistics, personnel services, transport services, general cargo network, 2-man handling and co-packing/display construction. The pfenning Group now employs 7,000 people in Europe.
