CIBSE has launched a new Oman Subcommittee as part of its continued expansion across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The network aims to strengthen local engagement with building services engineering professionals and provide access to CIBSE’s international professional community, technical expertise and knowledge.
Ragu Mathukumar has been appointed Chair of the Oman Subcommittee. A UK Chartered Engineer and Fellow of CIBSE, Mathukumar has more than 27 years of experience in building services engineering, MEP design, project delivery and engineering leadership across the Middle East.
Mathukumar currently serves as MEP Expert and Client Design Lead at OMRAN Group, where he provides engineering governance for luxury hospitality and mixed-use developments. He also supports professional development as a CIBSE membership and Chartered Engineer assessor, university external examiner and mentor.
The Oman Subcommittee will organise opportunities for engineers, students and organisations to participate in technical webinars, in-person events, networking activities, the CIBSE Student Design Competition, awards, conferences and professional development initiatives.
The network will also help CIBSE identify the needs of building engineering professionals in Oman and strengthen connections with members across MENA and internationally. Further activities are planned as the subcommittee develops.
