HARDI Updates HVACR Distributors on Training, Regulations and 2027 Outlook

Heating, Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI) has outlined its October 2026 activities, covering market intelligence, workforce training, regulatory advocacy and upcoming industry events. CEO Talbot Gee presented the updates ahead of the association’s Annual Conference: Frontier, scheduled for December in California.

HARDI’s Market Intelligence team has published analyses of the widening gap between home sellers and buyers and its implications for HVACR demand. The association also launched its Map of the Month series, examining housing age as an indicator of potential equipment replacement opportunities. Conference attendees can register for Regional Outlook Sessions and receive a complimentary copy of the 2027 State of the Channel Report when it is released next year.

Registration for HARDI’s Spring 2027 training programs will open soon. The association has introduced new training packages offering members greater flexibility in workforce development, with training bundle pricing available through December 31, 2026.

On regulatory matters, HARDI is encouraging distributors to report suspected non-compliant HVAC equipment and refrigerants through its tipline to support investigations and potential federal enforcement. The association also held a State Advocacy Day addressing concerns about California Energy Commission equipment sales reporting requirements. Following the September 1 expiration of a temporary exception for outdoor ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) requirements, HARDI advises members to review applicable state regulations and original equipment manufacturer recommendations.

HARDI membership dues renewals will open November 18, while preparations for an office relocation are underway. The association recently held its HARDI LATAM Conference in Guadalajara and is preparing for Annual Conference: Frontier in San Diego this December. Registration prices for the upcoming event increase November 1.
