New Delhi facility aims to bridge HVAC talent gap with hands-on training and certification
Carrier India has inaugurated its first Centre of Excellence for HVAC skill development in partnership with Jamia Millia Islamia’s University Polytechnic, aiming to equip students with industry-relevant skills and practical expertise. The initiative supports Carrier’s broader commitment to fostering a skilled and inclusive workforce through STEM education and energy-efficient technologies.
Developed in collaboration with United Way of India, the Centre features a fully equipped training lab offering real-world experience with modern HVAC systems. The program includes mentorship from industry professionals, soft skills training, and exposure to the latest technologies to enhance students’ employability.
Sundaresan Narayanan, Managing Director of Carrier India, highlighted the significance of the initiative: “Carrier’s commitment to innovation and societal progress is exemplified by our new Centre of Excellence for HVAC skill development. This initiative is a significant step toward India’s skill development mission, marking a key milestone in empowering the next generation of HVAC professionals.”
Senior representatives from Jamia Millia Islamia expressed strong support for the collaboration. Prof. Mazhar Asif, Vice Chancellor, noted that the program enhances students’ readiness for the evolving HVAC industry. Prof. M A Khan, Principal of University Polytechnic, emphasized the Centre's role in supporting skill-based education and innovation, including student-led projects and research.
The Centre will provide certifications upon completion, helping students align with the demands of a rapidly growing HVACR sector in India and beyond.
