EPEE Releases 2024 Manifesto

The European Partnership for Energy and the Environment (EPEE), representing manufacturing companies and associations operating in the refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump (RACHP) industry in Europe, released its manifesto for 2024 with the goal of providing legislators with key policy priorities to support the energy transition while growing the more than 200,000 jobs the sector directly supports.

“Our members are fully committed to achieving EU carbon neutrality by 2050 and represent the industries that will deliver on decarbonizing buildings and cold chains through innovative heating, cooling, and refrigeration solutions,” said EPEE Director General Russell Patten.

In view of the upcoming European elections, EPEE shared its manifesto with DG ENER, which is considered a key partner in promoting policies to further contribute to the EU climate neutrality goals and to encourage sustainable and innovative heating and cooling solutions.

“EPEE’s manifesto outlines the key policies that will support the EU in reaching its environmental and sustainability leadership objectives,” said Patten. “At the same time, we must foster competitiveness so that the RACHP industry can continue to innovate and support hundreds of thousands of jobs across the continent.”

EPEE’s manifesto calls for:

  • Implementing the energy efficiency first principle.
  • Recognizing the critical role of RACHP technologies in energy efficiency and climate mitigation.
  • Harnessing the sustainability, safety, and affordability of our products.
  • Achieving the 2050 decarbonization target.
  • Addressing the future of industry competitiveness on the single market.
  • Implementing Green Deal files at the national level & completing the Green Deal at the EU level.
  • Allowing for transparent and scientifically based policymaking.
  • “EPEE is committed to supporting the EU through its energy transition and looks forward to working closely with policymakers to ensure we achieve our shared ambition,” said Patten.
