Orbia Koura Introduces Klea Edge for Sustainable Refrigeration

Orbia Advance Corporation S.A.B. de C.V. through its Fluor & Energy Materials division, has announced the launch of Klea Edge, a cutting-edge portfolio of sustainable refrigerants designed to accelerate the global transition toward decarbonization. This new product line features refrigerants with a global warming potential (GWP) of less than 150, marking a significant step in the company's commitment to innovation, sustainability, and regulatory compliance.

The Klea Edge portfolio represents a breakthrough in refrigerant technology, offering low-GWP solutions that meet stringent global regulations while delivering high performance, stability, and ease of use. As industries worldwide strive to achieve ambitious climate goals, the demand for lower-GWP refrigerants continues to grow. Orbia’s new refrigerant line is positioned to meet this demand, providing solutions for commercial refrigeration, automotive, and stationary air conditioning systems.

“Klea Edge is a testament to Orbia’s dedication to advancing sustainable technologies while prioritizing the needs of our global customers," said Shawn Shorrock, Global Vice President of Refrigerants at Orbia Fluor & Energy Materials. "This portfolio not only meets regulatory requirements but also helps our customers achieve their climate goals with reliable, high-performance products."

Key Products in the Klea Edge Portfolio:

  • Klea Edge R-444A: An economical, high-performance direct replacement for R-1234YF in the automotive aftermarket, offering a low-GWP solution that complies with carbon emissions regulations while remaining user-friendly for technicians and vehicle owners.

  • Klea Edge R-485A: A developmental refrigerant designed to outperform CO2 across various temperatures in heating, cooling, and refrigeration applications, further supporting the industry's shift to environmentally friendly solutions.

Orbia’s Klea Edge line reflects the company’s broader sustainability goals, particularly in reducing Scope 3 emissions. The company aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions from the use and disposal of its products by 30%, contributing to a cleaner, more resilient future.

Orbia will showcase its latest innovations at Chillventa (Nuremberg, Germany) in October and AAPEX (Las Vegas, Nevada) in November. Attendees are invited to visit Orbia’s booths to learn more about Klea Edge and its impact on the future of refrigeration and air conditioning.
