Siemens Introduces the MVL702 Magnetic Expansion Valve

Siemens has launched the MVL702 Magnetic Expansion Valve, a groundbreaking innovation designed to enhance efficiency in refrigeration and heat pump systems. The valve is set to revolutionize the industry with its speed, precision, and robust design, addressing the rising energy costs and the push towards renewable energy.

Key Features of the MVL702 Magnetic Expansion Valve:

  1. Exceptional Energy Efficiency:

    • Transitions from closed to fully open in just one second, making it the fastest valve on the market.
    • Ensures higher system stability and energy efficiency, with potential heating capacity increases of up to 21% compared to traditional stepper valve technology.
    • End customers can benefit from up to 14% annual energy savings.
  2. Enhanced Safety:

    • Mechanically closes in case of power failure, eliminating the need for additional solenoid valves or super-cap batteries.
    • Reduces the risk of compressor damage and simplifies equipment design.
    • A3 certification qualifies it for use with natural refrigerants, supporting eco-friendly equipment designs.
  3. Robust Reliability:

    • Driven by a linear magnetic actuator, which means no friction, mechanical play, or need for lubrication.
    • Maintenance-free design ensures long-lasting performance and reliability even in harsh conditions.
  4. Planning and Engineering Efficiency:

    • Designed and tested as a complete system for easy integration into any equipment automation system, lowering development and testing costs.
    • Enhanced serviceability through remote access and diagnostics.

Case Study: Enhanced Efficiency with Refra Heat Pumps

Refra, a Lithuanian manufacturer of refrigeration equipment, integrated the MVL702 into their reversible propane heat pump design. The results were significant, with up to 8.3% higher COP during heating and a 16.5% increase throughout the entire heating cycle compared to a competitor's stepper valve. This led to a 21% increase in heating capacity and up to 14% reduction in energy consumption, aligning with Refra’s commitment to sustainability and cost savings.
