Vertiv has modernized the cooling infrastructure at NFrance’s sovereign data center, reducing power consumption by approximately 20% compared with the previous infrastructure. The project also eliminated cooling-related water consumption, achieving WUE = 0, while maintaining uninterrupted operations during deployment.
NFrance provides cloud hosting, colocation and managed services. The company sought to increase cooling output while maintaining operational continuity as cloud usage and hosted-service requirements grew.
The new thermal architecture uses Vertiv Liebert PDX direct expansion systems with variable-speed scroll compressors. Cooling capacity can be modulated between 25% and 100% according to changes in heat load. Vertiv Liebert HPA-HCR condensers with EC fans dissipate heat without water consumption, while the Vertiv Liebert iCOM controller coordinates the units through its “Teamwork” mode.
The system has dual refrigeration circuits with independent condensers and N+1 redundancy. If one circuit is lost, up to 50% of capacity remains available, with automatic restart in under 40 seconds. Vertiv also provided commissioning, project management and a Preferred Warranty contract covering 24/7 technical support with on-site intervention assistance.
