Viessmann Clean & Cold Solutions has introduced its new TectoCore refrigeration unit range, led by the wall-mounted WMx5. The new units will also be offered with TectoCell cold and freezer rooms as integrated TectoSystem units. Viessmann will present the new products at Chillventa 2026 in Germany.
The TectoCore WMx5 features new condensers with reduced internal volume, designed to optimize refrigerant flow. According to Viessmann, the units deliver improved system performance at ambient temperatures from -5°C to +43°C (23°F to 109°F) while requiring a maximum refrigerant charge of 150 g (5.3 oz). The range uses natural refrigerant R290 (propane).
Viessmann reports an EER efficiency improvement of at least 10% for the WMx5 compared with its previous WMx3 generation. The company says the smallest TectoCore size is sufficient for most cold rooms, while the compact and narrow design is intended to increase usable space inside cold and freezer rooms.
The new generation also introduces a redesigned pipe geometry. The piping system is decoupled from the vibration-reduced compressor mounting, and all pipe connections are brazed. Evaporators feature cathodic dip coating, while the hot-gas coil uses CuNiFe alloy tubing. Viessmann tests the units for technical tightness using helium at its facility in Hof.
The new TectoCore units can also be retrofitted to existing cold and freezer rooms, with different options depending on the room and refrigeration-unit generation. At Chillventa, Viessmann will also show a TectoSystem Launch Edition combining a TectoCell cold room, TectoCore WMx5, integrated shelving and additional optional equipment.
“The new TectoCore WMx5 refrigeration unit shows an efficiency increase of at least +10% compared with our previous WMx3 generation,” said Michael Stein, Head of Research and Development at Viessmann Kühlsysteme GmbH. “This significantly reduces lifecycle costs.”
