Siemens and Invertek Drives Formalize HVAC-R Partnership in Germany

Siemens and Invertek Drives announced a formal partnership at Chillventa 2026 in Nuremberg, Germany, building on nearly five years of collaboration in HVAC-R technologies. The agreement combines Siemens’ Climatix application controllers with Invertek Drives’ Optidrive Coolvert variable frequency drives (VFDs) to provide integrated control solutions for brushless DC (BLDC) compressors.

The solution combines Climatix compressor envelope management with Optidrive Coolvert motor control. The drives use patented control algorithms designed to optimize BLDC motor efficiency and performance, helping reduce compressor operating costs and support compliance with Ecodesign requirements.

Optidrive Coolvert supports BLDC rotary and scroll compressors and is certified for operation in environments using A2L and A3 low-global-warming-potential refrigerants. These refrigerants are relevant to OEM system redesigns under the European F-Gas Regulation. Siemens Climatix controllers communicate with Coolvert drives via Modbus, simplifying configuration and integration.

The partnership will initially focus on Europe, targeting heat pumps, light commercial and industrial applications, chillers, rooftop units, data centres, condensing units and process cooling. Both companies aim to reduce OEM development work and accelerate equipment deployment through tested and validated control solutions.

“Our relationship with Invertek Drives in the field of Brushless DC motor control for compressors goes back several years and has been marked by several successful customer collaborations,” said Bruno Baumann, EVP Equipment Automation for HVAC-R at Siemens. “Invertek’s Optidrive Coolvert portfolio complements our offering, enabling us to provide a complete mechatronic solution for modern refrigerant-based cooling and heating equipment.”
