KEYTER and TECNALIA have signed a strategic framework agreement to develop advanced heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) technologies. The partnership aims to accelerate the development and commercialization of energy-efficient solutions aligned with European decarbonization targets and emissions regulations.
The collaboration will focus on high-temperature heat pumps, cooling solutions for data centers, including chillers and terminal units, and advanced digitalization of equipment and processes. The partners aim to design and validate systems with improved energy performance and lower operating costs for industrial and residential applications.
The agreement also covers joint R&D projects, laboratory testing and equipment validation, technical consulting, component selection, intellectual property development and specialized training. Additional research areas include advanced manufacturing, new materials for heat exchangers operating at high temperatures and in corrosive environments, hydrogen-related heating and cooling technologies, district heating and cooling, thermal energy storage and large-scale agricultural applications.
TECNALIA will support KEYTER in identifying technological opportunities, developing strategic R&D projects and experimentally validating new solutions. The partnership is also intended to strengthen KEYTER’s international competitiveness and support the development of new technology-based business activities.
The agreement comes amid growing European demand for heat pumps and HVACR technologies, driven by energy policies, electrification of heating and efforts to reduce emissions in buildings and industry.
