Daikin Launches iCM PRO Control Platform for HVAC Plant Management

Daikin has announced the launch of iCM PRO, a new generation of its intelligent Chiller Manager platform, available from 1 November 2026. The system expands HVAC plant management capabilities by integrating Daikin equipment and compatible third-party chillers and heat pumps within a single control strategy, supporting up to 16 units per controller.

iCM PRO is available in four configurations supporting 4, 8, 12 or 16 chillers and heat pumps, with datapoint capacities ranging from 500 to 5,000. The platform is designed for new installations and retrofit projects, allowing existing equipment to remain integrated. Pre-configured control architecture using proprietary Daikin software is intended to simplify commissioning and reduce on-site configuration.

The platform supports air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, heat pumps and multifunctional units, including two-pipe and four-pipe systems, simultaneous heating and cooling, and seasonal changeover applications. It also coordinates plant auxiliaries such as pumps, cooling towers and control valves. Compatible Daikin equipment includes the EWYT-CZ, EWYE-CZ, EWAT-CZ, EWYT-B, EWYK-QZ and VZ series, alongside DWSC, DWDC and EWW(D)(H)(S)-DZ centrifugal chiller ranges.

Developed by Daikin Applied Europe, iCM PRO uses a two-level software architecture combining validated Daikin control algorithms with a customisation layer based on Niagara technology. This allows operating logic, configurations and functionality to be adapted to individual project requirements while retaining the validated control layer.

The platform introduces flow-based sequencing alongside traditional temperature-based control. It monitors unit availability, alarms, operating priorities, running hours, start frequency and plant thermal demand to adjust equipment operation. By incorporating hydraulic demand into sequencing decisions, the system is designed to support variable-flow installations, primary-secondary configurations, multi-zone buildings and industrial processes with dynamic loads.
