ECOOLTEC debuts T15 all-electric monotemp refrigeration unit

Using R1270 and CO2, the diesel-free system delivers up to 15kW of cooling for single-zone rigid trucks and trailers.

ECOOLTEC debuts T15 all-electric monotemp refrigeration unit

ECOOLTEC Grosskopf GmbH is introducing its T15 all-electric transport refrigeration unit at IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026, taking place September 15–20. Designed for rigid vehicles, drawbar trailers and semi-trailers with a single temperature zone, the unit uses natural refrigerants and the same operating principle as the company’s TM182 system.

The T15 can be powered through ECOOLTEC’s high-performance alternator connected to the truck engine, a battery or a separate power source, eliminating the need for an integrated diesel engine. It uses R1270 (propene, GWP: 0) for cooling and CO2 (R744, GWP: 1) for cold distribution. The system retains a dual-circuit, fully hermetic refrigeration design with minimal refrigerant charge, with the refrigeration process taking place outside the cargo compartment.

Unlike the TM182, which has two separate refrigeration systems for multi-temperature operation, the T15 has one evaporator with capacity adapted for single-chamber operation. Its cooling capacity is 15,000 W (approx. 51,200 BTU/h) at 0 °C (32 °F) with an ambient temperature of 30 °C (86 °F), and 8,300 W (approx. 28,300 BTU/h) at –20 °C (–4 °F) with an ambient temperature of 30 °C (86 °F).

ECOOLTEC is also introducing the E2322 flat evaporator for single-chamber operation with the T15 and a more compact remote control. The controller can fit into a DIN-sized recess in the cab or be mounted outside the box body, while retaining the previous display size and operating approach.

The company says it has developed integration solutions for battery-electric HGVs from seven brands, including systems connected through electric power take-offs supplying either AC or DC power.

“The ECOOLTEC TM182 is designed to meet the extremely high demands of multitemp applications. However, many customers operate refrigerated vehicles exclusively with a single temperature zone and therefore do not require the versatility of the TM182. With the T15, we are providing them with a model that is precisely tailored to this requirement”, said ECOOLTEC CTO Holger Dörre.
