Carrier upgrades AquaEdge 19XR chiller for low-GWP refrigerants

The two-stage unit delivers up to 10 MW of capacity, COP 6.6 and a choice of R-1234ze, R-513A or R-515B.

Carrier upgrades AquaEdge 19XR chiller for low-GWP refrigerants

Carrier has upgraded its AquaEdge® 19XR Two-stage Centrifugal Chiller with ultra-low-GWP refrigerant R-1234ze. The high-capacity chiller is designed for industrial facilities seeking to manage cooling-related energy use, maintenance requirements and refrigerant regulations.

The 19XR delivers efficiency of up to COP 6.6 and IPLV 11. Carrier said its two-stage technology provides up to 15% higher efficiency in high-lift conditions than traditional single-stage designs.

The chiller offers capacity of up to 10 MW (approximately 34.1 million BTU/h) and operates from -6°C to +45°C (21.2°F to 113°F), supporting process-cooling applications in industrial environments.

Its semi-hermetic design has 54% fewer aerodynamic parts than conventional single-stage chillers, according to Carrier. The reduced component count is intended to simplify maintenance while supporting a compact footprint and low-noise operation.

Customers can select R-1234ze, R-513A or R-515B refrigerants for the 19XR. The chiller also uses a low overall refrigerant charge to support lower-emission operation and customers’ sustainability priorities.
