Danfoss Expands Green Refrigerants Compressor Laboratory in China

Danfoss marked 30 years of operations in China on November 4, 2026, announcing the Phase II expansion of its Green Refrigerants Compressors Laboratory at the Wuqing campus in Tianjin. The company signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Wuqing District Government to support the project, which will expand its refrigeration technology research, testing and application development capabilities.

The expansion will add 6,000 m² (approximately 64,600 sq ft) of gross floor area to the existing 7,000 m² (approximately 75,300 sq ft) laboratory. The facility focuses on sustainable technologies for heat pumps, air conditioning and data center cooling. Phase II will also broaden its scope to support Control & Thermal Management and Sensing Solutions. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027, with operations expected to start in the first half of 2028.

Danfoss began manufacturing refrigeration and heating components in China in 1996. Its Wuqing campus now produces compressors, sensors, controls and energy-efficient solutions for food and cold chains, buildings, data centers and advanced manufacturing. The company operates 10 production campuses and four major innovation sites across China, where sales have more than doubled over the past decade.

Danfoss also recently completed its 126,000 m² (approximately 1.36 million sq ft) Haiyan Second Campus, its largest production facility in China. The site combines manufacturing operations with two Application Development Centers.

“Our strong growth in China reflects three decades of close collaboration with our customers and local governments, and a commitment to local investment and innovation. Driven by our LEAP 2030 strategy, the Phase II expansion of the Green Refrigerants Compressors Laboratory reflects the strength of our partnership with Wuqing and our shared ambition to advance refrigeration technology, strengthen innovation, and build capabilities for the future,” said Kim Fausing, President and CEO of Danfoss.
