Carrier Transicold outlines A2L refrigerant safety approach in France

Carrier Transicold has outlined its safety-by-design approach to adopting low-global-warming-potential (GWP) A2L refrigerants in refrigerated transport, highlighting leak detection as part of the transition.

According to the company, the refrigerated transport sector is increasingly considering low-GWP refrigerants amid sustainability goals, climate-related regulatory pressure, customer expectations and corporate environmental commitments.

Many low-GWP refrigerant solutions belong to the A2L refrigerant class. Carrier Transicold said these refrigerants offer lower GWP than traditional A1 refrigerants while carrying a mild flammability classification.

The company said transitioning to an A2L refrigerant requires a safety-focused approach incorporating risk assessment, preventive measures, detection systems and mitigation strategies. Carrier Transicold supports low-GWP refrigerant adoption through its own safety-by-design approach.
